A Conscious Alliance Benefit: (12/8/12) Event Preview Post – 12/4/12

EOTO Show – 3/16/12 – Boulder Theater

This Saturday, December 8th, Euphonic Conceptions, Sub.Mission Dubstep, and The Untz will be bringing to Denver a highly anticipated religious musical experience for those of us that worship the bass. It’s going to be somewhat of a Colorado music love-fest. EOTO and VibeSquaD, both out of Boulder, as well as NiT GRiT from San Jose, will all be together in the same building for the same event for what will surely be a night that will remain etched in the memory of all those who attend. To top that off, the legendary spiritual/psychedelic artists Alex & Allyson Grey will also be there painting a live masterpiece right in front of our bass-melted-faces to continue their celebration of their recent book release, titled Net of Being. As if all of that wasn’t exciting enough, it is all for an awesome cause. A Conscious Alliance is a non-profit organization out of Boulder that is committed to hunger-relief and youth empowerment. How can one show get much better than this?

When I first heard about this show a few months ago, I got goosebumps and some giddy vibes. I then started mentally preparing for a show with a lineup that some people only dream about seeing. The lineup is out of this world. EOTO is really the first exposure I had to bass music almost 5 years ago. Anyone who knows me knows that I live on bass music, so EOTO definitely holds a very special place in my heart, and many other Colorado bass  music lovers. They will be bringing their one-of-a-kind notorious 3-Dimensional Lotus Flower stage set-up for this show, and even though I have seen the Lotus Flower stage twice now, I’m extremely excited for my third time. It will never get old. It’s very unique and creative, and it is guaranteed to blow your mind, whether you have seen it before or not.

Next on the agenda is VibeSquaD. The last time I saw his show was a few months ago in Boulder with OPIUO (Check the Event Review HERE!). It was a full on laser-fueled disco dance party all night long. VibeSquaD is another one of my favorite artists to listen to, and he also just happens to be based out of Boulder. He sports the biggest grin on his face for the entire duration of his marvelous set. He is also incredibly animated, inspiring everyone in attendance to join him with enthusiastic movements and a perma-grin. I definitely can’t wait to see him warm it up just right for EOTO. I think I had a dream or two with this lineup: VibeSquaD opening for EOTO. Alas, I keep seeing the event posted online, and am hearing more and more talk of it as the day of the show gets closer, so I’m pretty sure it’s really going to happen!

VibeSquad/Opiuo 9/6/12 (IncisionMagazine.com)NiT GRiT will be the cherry atop the whipped cream, atop some of the best cake you’ve ever tasted for this show. Coming from San Jose (but recently rumored to be either relocating to Colorado, or at least considering relocation here), NiT GRiT is going to be hand-delivering some pure grittiness to the Mile High once again. If you haven’t yet seen him perform, you will notice that he starts his set off hard right from the beginning, and his sounds just get harder and more solid from there. He has a unique sound: grimey bass that will make you grind your teeth, while still maintaining distinctive melodies and harmonies. When you arrive at the show, please remember to bring your rage face and leave it on for the duration of the evening. You are going to need it.

All the while, when this all-star lineup is performing, Alex & Allyson Grey will be doing live painting throughout the show, in celebration of their recent release of their book titled Net of BeingAlex Grey is an internationally recognized psychedelic and spiritual artist that is best known for collaborations with musical artists such as Tool, String Cheese Incident, Meshuggah, Beastie Boys, and Nirvana. His work has been featured in both Newsweek and on the Discovery Channel. A Conscious Alliance Benefit Poster (ConsciousAlliance.org)A Conscious Alliance regularly holds food drives that are called “Art That Feeds” mostly at musical events, and Saturday will be one of the days they hold these generous food drives. Since its creation in 2002, this organization has been able to provide over 1.5 million meals for people in need across our country. The idea behind “Art That Feeds” events is to utilize art as an incentive for patrons to donate food and/or monetary donations to their cause of feeding those less fortunate. Let’s face it, there are many people out there who don’t have money for food, let alone lucky enough to attend the amazing life-changing concerts like this one. For every one of these food drives they hold, (which mostly take place at concerts and music festivals) those who participate by making the suggested donation receive a custom event-specific poster. For this special event, ragers who bring at least 10 cans of food to the show will receive a FREE event poster created by artist Mark Serlo.

If you are interesting in donating to this awesome cause, as well as receiving this amazing event poster, there will be donation bins located outside the main entrance of the Fillmore Auditorium where Conscious Alliance volunteers will trade poster redemption vouchers for your non-perishable donations. You will be able to redeem your poster at the Conscious Alliance table inside the venue anytime during or after the show. These awesome posters would make a great item for any or all of these amazing  artists to sign, hint, hint.
